TV/Streaming: I’ve been dipping into Hallmark’s Christmas movies and, man, are they sweet — more sugar than a sugar cane! Music: Garth Brooks is burning up the charts again — how did that happen? Books: Am finally catching up with Ocean Vuong’s novel “On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous” and it’s a beaut…The new collection of Nabokov’s ephemera (“Think, Write, Speak”) is disappointing, in stark contrast to the earlier collection “Strong Opinions.” Sports: Freddie Ljungberg needs some wins with Arsenal if he wants his temporary coaching position to be less temporary. Finally: I have a weakness for Advent calendars: some of them are ingenious.
