Kennedy Center Unaffected By Shutdown

Well, that’s a relief: Washington D.C.’s Ford’s Theatre and The Kennedy Center will remain open for performances, despite the partial government shutdown. Though both theatres receive funding from the U.S. government, they will present performances as planned. That’s the only good news out of the Kennedy Center this week. I mean, did you watch last night’s broadcast of the Kennedy Center honors? They were given to Reba and Cher and Philip Glass and Wayne Shorter and the Hamilton Boys. I fast-forwarded through the silliness. The only moment that made me pay attention was Kelly Clarkson‘s stirring tribute to her mom-in-law, Reba.
