Another Terrific AIDS Movie From France

Beats Per Minute,” a French film about AIDS and activism, was one of the best films of last year. (And criminally not nommed for Oscars’ best foreign film.) There’s another top-notch AIDS movie from France and it’s making news: ‘France’s awards season is off, with the selection of Christophe Honore’s Sorry Angel for the prestigious Louis Delluc prize. The Cannes competition entry was selected by a jury of 14 film critics headed by former Cannes president Gilles Jacob from a shortlist of 13 films, taking France’s oldest cinema honor. Angel, starring Vincent Lacoste and Pierre Deladonchamps, is a bittersweet love story set to the backdrop of AIDS in the 1990s.’
