“Brokeback Mountain” Opera In NYC
Charles Wuorinen‘s “Brokeback Mountain” opera has its Gotham premiere this week at New York City Opera. I applaud the company for presenting the work, but, having seen it on a PBS broadcast in 2014, I have to agree with Tony Tommasini’s original NY Times review, when the piece was in Madrid: “It is a hard opera to love.”
