Movies: The reviews seem to suggest that “Deadpool 2” is trying too hard. “The Book Club” also looks as if it’s huffing and puffing. Streaming/TV: “Mamma Mia!” is now watchable on Netflix: the sequel arrives in August so brace yourselves. The endless specials about royal weddings this week have been pretty fast-foodish: won’t it be wonderful to see the thing itself on Saturday morning? Music: I’m very partial to this rendering of Schubert’s “Trout” Quintet. And to this one of Glenn Branca’s Symphony for 100 Guitars. Books: Showtime’s “Patrick Melrose” series — all the drear of drugs without any of the fun — sent me back to the books, which are full of fun! Sports: Golden State Golden State Golden State Golden State Golden State. Finally: My favorite motif about the royal weddings is that they are all fairy tales come true. Hah!
