“Pretty Woman” Opens In Chicago
According to the Chicago Tribune review, the movie made a star of Julia Roberts and the musical adaptation bodes well to make a star of Samantha Barks. The Trib reviewer, Chris Jones, is less kind to Steve Kazee, in the Richard Gere part: ‘Kazee needs to perk up, sex it up, charm it up, take off his shirt, emote less and smile more; he’s a corporate raider with issues, not a melancholy adjunct history teacher, for goodness sake.’ My old pal Jerry Mitchell directed the show, which comes to Broadway in August.
