Your Weekend: A Selective Guide
Movies: Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy: Another “Maze Runner.” “Hostiles” has an intriguing plot: in 1892, a legendary Army captain reluctantly agrees to escort a Cheyenne chief and his family through dangerous territory. TV/Streaming: David Letterman (“My Next Guest”), Jerry Seinfeld (“Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee”): Netflix is getting mighty square. On Friday, “Great Performances” at the Met gives us “Norma,” with Joyce DiDonato. I’m there! Music: On Sunday, James Corden hosts the Grammys. I’ll probably put the show on deep background and listen to something classic (rock) or classical (opera) instead. Books: I’m only now catching up to the most recent book by that fine writer Nicholas Dawidoff: “Collision Low Crossers: Inside the Turbulent World of NFL Football.” Sports: Are you getting wet with anticipation for the Olympics? Finally: I always suspected that having a puppy was a lot like rearing a human baby — and now I know for sure.
