Your Weekend: A Selective Guide
Movies: No big stuff until “Star Wars” later in the month, but in the meantime there are
the well-reviewed “The Disaster Artist,” with an amusing James Franco, and “The Shape of Water,” with a lovable monster. TV/Streaming: A new season of the computer-animated comedy “All Hail King Julien” arrives on Netflix. On Sunday, “All Def Comedy” returns to HBO. Music: Jay Z and Kendrick Lamar benefit sales-wise from Grammy noms; otherwise, the charts are mostly holiday fare. To escape, I’m listening to the Jim Kweskin Jug Band featuring Maria Muldaur. Books: Definitive proof of dealings between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin are laid out in “Collusion: Secret Meetings, Dirty Money, and How Russia Helped Donald Trump Win,” by Luke Harding. Sports: New York sports fans are still reeling from the news of Eli Manning’s benching: even if Eli agreed: it ain’t fittin’! Finally: December 1st is World AIDS Day: there’s been progress with the epidemic worldwide but there are still too many undiagnosed and untreated.
