You Shouldn’t Be Surprised About Matt
Matt Lauer is out at NBC, the network announced during Wednesday’s TODAY show. I’m not surprised by this, nor have I from the beginning of the Weinstein Era been surprised by any man who is at last learning the consequences of past behavior. Women of all backgrounds have been telling me for years that sexual harassment and abuse goes on against them ALL THE TIME. And I finally learned to believe them. As for Lauer: in a statement read on-air by his co-host Savannah Guthrie, the network explained that a complaint about “inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace†was lodged against the longtime anchor of NBC’s morning show on Monday night, and despite it being the first complaint of its kind against Lauer at the network, “we were also presented with reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident.â€
