“Rise”: A Working-Class “Glee”?
The upcoming NBC drama “Rise,” based on the true story of a high-school drama teacher, will premiere March 13, 2018 at 10 PM, following “This Is Us.” Inspired by a true story, the series stars Rosie Perez and Josh Radnor as high school drama teacher Lou Mazzuchelli, who sets out to reinvigorate the theatre program in a working-class district through challenging his students and helping them find a sense of identity and purpose. When he chooses “Spring Awakening” as the year’s big production, controversy ensues due to the nature of the show.
