Da Vinci Masterpiece To Be Sold
Christie’s just announced that the leading lots of its 15 November Post-war and Contemporary auction in New York will be Andy Warhol’s 32-foot Sixty Last Suppers (1986)—the Pop artist’s take on the Renaissance masterpiece by Leonardo da Vinci—whose consignment eventually loosened the last remaining da Vinci in private hands: Salvator Mundi (around 1500). The Warhol is tagged at $50m, while the da Vinci is estimated to fetch around $100m; both carry third-party guarantees.
