LaChanze To Be Donna, But Who’s Cher?
In the wake of the successful Carole King musical and the less successful Gloria Estefan musical, two more divafests are coming to Broadway next year. The first is called “Summer,” about disco lady Donna Summer, and stars three Donnas, the oldest of whom is played by LaChanze (pictured). The second is called “The Cher Show,” and also features three performers (young, middle-aged, ageless) as the “Believe” belter. No casting yet for the ageless Cher but I’ve heard it will be Stephanie K. Block, who received a Tony nom last season for “Falsettos.”
