Saoirse Ronan: This Season’s “It” Actress
She’s already being buzzed about for her role in Greta Gerwig’s “Lady Bird,” but Miss Ronan burnishes her status further with her performance in “On Chesil Beach,” an adaptation of Ian McEwan’s novel of the same name. Variety says she’s “remarkable” and has high praise as well for helmer Dominic Cooke. Cooke also directed the new London production of “Follies,” so he, at 51, is rather “It” — but not “IT” — himself.
