Emmy Noms: Who Gained, Who Lost
As Hollywood woke up this morning to hear “Veep”’s Anna Chlumsky and “Criminal Minds” alum Shemar Moore announce this year’s nomination along with TV Academy boss Hayma Washington, there were raised hopes and bitter pills all over town. For “This Is Us,” the latest installment of “Fargo,” and both “Grace and Frankie”‘s Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin getting nominations today well positions them for a big win at the Stephen Colbert-hosted and CBS broadcast shindig on September 17. However, for those who were snubbed today, a certain amount of heat has been taken off their summer. Among the snubbees were “The Americans,” “Transparent,” “Girls,” and Oprah Winfrey. “Westword,” which I didn’t care for, got 22 noms. “Feud: Bette and Joan,” which I also felt meh about, got 18. In better news, “This Is Us” also garnered 18.
