Visual Genius Michael Ballhaus Is Dead
He’s the guy responsible for that breathtaking tracking shot through the kitchen and into the Copacabana in “Goodfellas,” but cinematographer Michael Ballhaus, who has died, was much much more than that. He worked with a dozen top directors throughout his career, getting his splashy start with terrifyingly prolific director Rainer Maria Fassbinder.
