I’ll always have a soft place in my heart for Ms. McDormand, because she used to live in my Upper West Side apartment building. These days, she spends most of her time in northern California, while her husband, director Ethan Coen, is more partial to New York. The writer/director Martin McDonaugh appears to be channeling the Coen bros in his new movie, “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. The flick provides a great, Oscar-y role for Fran, who hasn’t had this much middle-America fun since her cherished turn as Marge Gunderson in “Fargo.” Can’t wait.
