Norman Lear Remakes: Why Not?
When I heard that Norman Lear 1970s sitcoms — “All in the Family,” “The Jeffersons,” “Maude” — might be remade, I thought: once, again, there’s nothing fresh in Hollywood. But the approach itself could work. The idea currently being discussed by Lear and Sony executives would be to have new actors recreate classic episodes of the shows, working from the original scripts, and package them as six-episode anthologies. The scripts would be treated like plays mounted in new productions. Intriguing.
