Happy 35th Anniversary, “Dreamgirls”!
I have a few friends who aren’t fans of “Dreamgirls,” but I love them anyway. I was knocked out by this musical from the very first time I saw it shortly after its December 20, 1981 opening. I went back many times, to hear Jennifer “hunh hunh” Holiday as well as the rest of the superb cast. And those Theoni Aldredge costumes: honey, Broadway has never seen such sequins, before or since.
