Kirk Douglas Turns 100
I would say that he and Olivia de Havilland, who also turned 100 this year, are the only big stars left from Hollywood’s classic age, but the fact is that Kirk didn’t break into pictures until 1946, with “The Strange Loves of Martha Ivers.” Olivia was in several classic pictures in the late 1930s. In addition, she has two Oscars; Kirk the actor has none. Doris Day is still around, too, but like Kirk she didn’t get her start until the 1940s.
