What’s New: Adele, Paul Newman
Thank you, Donald Trump! “Hamilton” just had its best week ever at the box office: keep those boycotts coming. The price of a “Hamilton” ticket is nothing compared to the price of an Adele pass. When tickets for her Australian tour went on sale today, some of the prime ones were scooped up for $5,600 each. Blimey…For some reason I’ve been thinking about Slim Pickens. No, it’s not his role riding the bomb in the 1962 movie, “Dr. Strangelove,” it’s his role in “One-Eyed Jacks,” the 1961 picture starring Marlon Brando that has just been made available on Bluray…The best news of the day is that TCM is going to air a lost gem sometime in 2017. I’m talking about “On the Harmfulness of Tobacco,” a relatively short 1962 movie that Paul Newman filmed in a Yiddish theater on the Lower East Side of New York. The movie is based on a one-act Chekhov play of the same title.
