The View From Abroad
I’m out of the country for a couple of weeks, and I can report that Europe is afraid of Trump but not obsessing over him. I find it a healthy break not to be subjected to constant Trump-related chatter. As for the cultural scene in the US, I see that “Natasha, Pierre…” has opened on Broadway to generally fine (though not boffo) reviews, and that Josh Groban’s name above the title ensures that this is Broadway’s newest hit. The rest of the cultural scene looks pretty tame, politics having swamped pop culture for the moment. Or, rather, politics has become pop culture for now, to the detriment of the US and the world. Cheers.
