Emeli Sandé Scores With “Hurts”
When she emerged at the end of 2011, Sandé was deemed another big-voiced singer in the style of Adele. By odd coincidence, Sandé’s name is actually Adele Emily (changed to avoid potential confusion). A former medical student with a degree in neuroscience, she proved a favorite of broadcasters, perhaps because, unlike the other Adele, she could be relied upon not to burst into cockney profanity between songs.
