Your Weekend: A Selective Guide
Movies: “The Accountant” looks like Ben Affleck in his less interesting mode. “Certain Women” has gotten terrific reviews. TV/Streaming: Friday brings a Grammys salute to music legends. Saturday brings “Being George Clooney” on Netflix. And Sunday premieres “The Durrells in Corfu.” Music: Melissa Etheridge’s new “MEMPHIS Rock and Soul” reminds me that I once got drunk with her in Los Angeles. (Whee!) In stranger news, Judy Garland and Maria Callas recorded a duet together, and I hear it’s about to resurface online. Books: “My Own Words” gives us Ruth Bader Ginsburg on a plethora of topics — gender, sex, opera. Sports: If a woman is elected President and the Cubs win the World Series, all that remains for me to die happy is Cher starring in a revival of “Mame.” Finally: Only 16 days till Halloween. (Try to think up a non-Trump costume, okay?)
