Can Someone Please Stop This Monstrosity?
Andrew Russeth writes: ‘When plans for Thomas Heatherwick’s $150 million public sculpture for the Hudson Yards real-estate development in Manhattan were unveiled to the public last week, my jaw dropped. The project, titled “Vessel,” is so ridiculously over-the-top and so breathtakingly ill-conceived that at first I thought it had to be a joke, or a set piece from a dystopian sci-fi film. But sadly, it seems, this is reality.’
