Your Weekend: A Selective Guide
Movies: I didn’t care for “Suicide Squad,” and I doubt you will, either. The movie to see this week is “Little Men,” featuring a tremendous performance by young Michael Barbieri. Television: Friday brings the opening ceremony of the 2016 Olympics. Sunday brings a new episode of Inspector Lewis. Music Lauren Daigle’s new album is “How Can It Be“… Josh Groban and Barbara Cook sing Leonard Bernstein on a new release. Books: I love that the news story about the Khans has made the U.S. Constitution a best-seller. Sports: I can no longer buy the rah-rah mythology about the Olympics. Corruption, displacement of the poor, contamination of sites: once you know how sausage is made, it’s hard to eat it with the same delight. Finally: Some people are getting ready for the new school year: I want summer forever!
