Does John Waters ever give a dull interview? Fresh off talking to Michael Musto for the Village Voice upon the re-release of “Multiple Maniacs,” Waters sits down with Dana Harris. Among many other things, he says what happened when the cinema in his native Baltimore that specialized in nudies got Ingmar Bergman movies like “Summer with Monika.” “The would just cut out all of the plot and leave the tits in and it would be ‘The Sins of Monika.’ I saw Bergman as porn when I first saw it. I actually do think that Bergman was a huge, huge, influence on me still. I am probably the only person that ever saw Bergman movies on LSD.”
