The collection of photographs illustrates the close relationship Alan Silfen has experienced with Lionel Richie from the 1980s to the present day. One the occasion of a new exhibition, Silken comments on his image “3 Times a Champion,’ from 2010: ‘This was back in 2010 at a benefit for a mutual friend’s charity in Canada. Lionel changed the song from “Three Times a Lady” to “Three Times a Champion” and sat down and sang it to Muhammad Ali. There wasn’t a dry eye in the place. It’s a sweet image. This one is really special actually because Ali and him had a really sweet friendship over the years, which started when Lionel was in the Commodores.’
