Your Weekend: A Selective Guide
Movies: “The Secret Life of Pets” is a must; “Captain Fantastic” is a maybe. Television: “The Great British Baking Show” has an episode on Friday about “biscuits.” But don’t expect gravy and grits, expect cookies. Fans of mysteries should be watching the “Endeavor” series on Sundays. And “The Night Of” on HBO is getting great reviews. Music: I don’t know why but every July I crank up the Springsteen: memories of youth, I guess. I wash down Bruce with a Judas Priest chaser. Books: Once again, death is the best career move: Elie Wiesel’s “Night” is back on the best-seller list. The movie may have flopped, but Roald Dahl’s book “The BFG” didn’t. Sports: Olympics trials this weekend in track and field and in gymnastics: whoo-hoo! Finally: So annoying: people who complain about the cold all winter and the heat all summer. Move to California!
