“‘Showgirls’ was a major feminist film.” That’s Isabelle Hupper (pictured), talking about the camp classic. It was directed by Paul Verhoeven, who has directed Huppert in the new “rape comedy” called “Elle.” Apparently, in France “Showgirls” is considered a serious political statement, not an absurd show-biz romp.
