Your Weekend: A Selective Guide

Movies: Some people think “The Nice Guys” is a fun, rude buddy-action flick; others think it’s a bore. “Weiner” is a fascinating documentary about (needlessly?) disgraced politician Anthony Weiner. Television: Saturday brings Bryan Cranston as LBJ in “All The Way.” On Sundays, will “Mr. Selfridge” please end so we can get something good on “Masterpiece Classic”? Music: “I Still Do” is a return to form by Eric Clapton. Who will appear on Streisand’s upcoming album of Broadway duets with movie stars? Besides Hugh Jackman, of course. Books: Siddhartha Mukherjee wrote a terrific book about cancer and now he’s written an equally readable book called “The Gene: An Intimate History.” Sports: If the NBA finals this year don’t include the Warriors, what’s the point of watching? Finally: Wouldn’t it be grand if we could all take a long summer holiday from the election?
