Woody’s Latest: Bittersweet, Lightly Comic
Woody Allen’s new film, “Cafe Society,” has just opened the Cannes Film Festival. It is a bittersweet 1930s-set romance starring Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart. The reviews are mixed-to-positive. (Read a sampling here.) This is Allen’s first significantly Los Angeles-filmed feature since “Annie Hall” nearly forty years ago.
