“Anastasia” Musical Debuts Tonight
When I think of “Anastasia,” I think of the 1956 movie that won Ingrid Bergman, in the starring role, the second of three Oscars. Ole Grey Meat (Helen Hayes) was also in the cast. When normal folks think of “Anastasia,” however, they think of the 1997 animated movie. It’s the 1997 flick that’s been turned into a stage musical, by Ahrens and Flaherty and McNally, which debuts tonight in Hartford. Mary Beth Peil and Christy Altomare play the Hayes/Bergman roles.
