Your Weekend: A Selective Guide
Movies: “Mother’s Day” is another holiday-theme flick from Garry Marshall — with Julia sporting a strange bob. “The Man Who Knew Infinity” gives us the story of math genius Ramanujan Iyengar. Television: On Friday, “Shark Tank” has a new episode. And on Sunday, there’s a new “Fear the Walking Dead” on AMC. Music: Poor Beyonce: Prince’s death has kept her “Lemonade” from the top spot on Amazon and Billboard. Nina Stemme is making a splash at the Met Opera in Strauss’s “Elektra.” Check out her recording of the same composer’s “Four Last Songs.” Books: I’m making my way with pleasure through Adam Hochschild’s “Spain in Our Hearts: Americans in the Spanish Civil War, 1936-1939.” Sports: I know the Kentucky Derby’s not for another week, but I’m already concocting the mint juleps, in virgin and non-virgin versions. Finally: It’s May, it’s May, the lusty month of May!
