Prince Philip’s Aston Martin Is For Sale
Prince Philip had his old Aston Martin sports car modified so the Queen could check her hat and he could make prank calls to Prince Charles, it has been revealed as the 1950s convertible goes up for sale for the first time in nearly 40 years. The 1954 Lagonda 3 Litre Drophead Coupe was made to order for the Duke of Edinburgh, winning Aston Martin its first Royal Warrant. Among its bespoke features is an extra vanity mirror, thought to have been used by the Queen to adjust her hat, and a radio telephone. The Duke is said to have delighted in using the device to make calls to Buckingham Palace to his wife, and apparently enjoyed disguising his voice when speaking with Prince Charles and Princess Anne. The vehicle is expected to fetch around $700,000. [Photo: SWNS]
