“Star Wars” Spawns Compilation Album
Last year, “Star Wars” re-entered the zeitgeist with “The Force Awakens.” Now, musical Jedi Master Rick Rubin has curated and produced a compilation, “Star Wars Headspace,” featuring new songs created using sound elements from “Star Wars” films. (Yes, that means producers like Flying Lotus, Rustie, A-Trak, Baauer, Röyksopp, Kaskade, Shlohmo, GTA, and others have made dance tracks out of Darth Vader’s breathing, Wookie roars, R2-D2’s bleeps and bloops, and more.) “Star Wars Headspace” is out February 19 digitally and March 18 in physical formats via Hollywood Records/American Recordings.
