Music: Joey Alexander is a pianist from Bali, whose new CD is “My Favorite Things.” I’m loving David Bowie’s new CD, “Blackstar.” Books: I’ve just finished my annual re-reading of “War and Peace,” in preparation for the big new TV miniseries adaptation starring Paul “Love and Mercy” Dano and Lily “Downton Abbey” James. James Norton is a rather too hunky Prince Andrey. Sports: Cards? Patriots? Panthers? Seahawks? Finally: January is one of my favorite months of the year: the holidays are over, things are quiet, it’s sunny and cold.
