Your Weekend: A Selective Guide
Movies: Still thinking of ringing in the new year with the blood and guts of “The Hateful Eight” and “The Revenant”? If that’s your idea of a good time, who am I to stop you? Television: Among the marathons this weekend are “The Thin Man” on TCM and “The Simpsons” on F/X. Music: Aretha’s performance on the Kennedy Center honors the other night pushed Carole King’s “Tapestry” back onto the charts. I’m loving Yannick Nezet-Seguin conducting Ravel. Books: Alan Cumming’s “Not My Father’s Son” is back on the best-seller list. Cumming’s childhood was no bed of Scottish heather. Sports: I’m betting the Jets make it into the playoffs this weekend. Finally: Have you broken any of your New Year’s resolutions yet? Did you bother to make any?
