The cost is estimated at $400 million. It would be an astonishingly ambitious project for any country – but for Greece, which has suffered so much in recent years, is it foolhardy? When Greek people are hungry, surely $400 million could cover a lot of meals for children. But when it comes to tourism, the Greeks will do what they bloody well please. All those hungry children in Athens don’t keep the rich merchants of Mykonos from hiding their revenue from tax collectors.
