Josh Groban Is Coming To Broadway
Although his best-selling “Stages” album features songs from old Broadway shows, PBS-fundraising favorite Josh Groban has been saying that his Broadway debut will be in a new musical. His choice for that debut — “Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812” — isn’t a new musical: it was done off-off Broadway and then in a tent-like supper club in the Broadway neighborhood of midtown Manhattan. The production will arrive in September. According to the New York Times, Groban will play Pierre, the role that was originated by the show’s writer, Dave Malloy. Malloy said that sections of the score will be expanded for Groban and that a new song, “Dust and Ashes,” has been written for his character. My review of the original “Natasha” production is here.
