John Waters is not only a genius filmmaker but also a genius cultural critic. If you don’t believe me, just watch his analysis of Frank Tashlin’s 1956 movie, “The Girl Can’t Help It.” Jayne Mansfield — with whom Waters is rightly obsessed — was the picture’s star.
