Movies: “Jem and the Holograms” returns in a feature-film version. “Rock the Casbah” features Bill Murray and a lot of headscarves. Television: “Billy Elliot” the musical premieres Friday on Great Performances. On Sundays, “The Good Wife” has returned to form after a clumsy first two episodes. Music: “Hamilton” is the first cast recording in a long time to top the Amazon charts. The Andris Nelsons-led Shostakovich album is dynamite. Books: I can’t recommend too highly the new work by my friend Hal Rubenstein: “The Looks of Love: 50 Moments in Fashion That Inspired Romance.” It makes a beautiful gift. Sports: Can the Jets beat the Patriots? In Foxboro? Nah. Finally: “The more I see of humans, the more I prefer dogs” — Mark Twain. How true!
