The Met’s New “Otello”: What To Expect

I went to the dress rehearsal for the Metropolitan Opera’s new production of Verdi’s “Otello,” which opens the season on Monday. Yannick Nezet-Seguin (the busiest man in show biz: the proof is here) conducted with brio, and Bartlett Sher did the production. I don’t want to give too much away, except to say that New Yorkers will soon be buzzing about Bulgarian soprano Sonya Yoncheva, who sings Desdemona. Listen to Sher talk about the production in the video above. Aleksandrs Antonenko is Otello.
