“Whorl Inside A Loop”: My FT Review
The Financial Times has posted my review of “Whorl Inside A Loop.” Bottom line: ‘Humanity oozes forth from ‘Whorl Inside a Loop,’ the new play by Dick Scanlan and Sherie Rene Scott at Second Stage. The central story takes place inside a New York State prison, in a performance workshop filled with convicted (though not all guilty) murderers. But only the Volunteer, an unnamed celebrity actress who has come to lead the sessions, behaves at all badly. If this tactic loads the emotional deck too predictably, the evening benefits from dynamic performances and from smooth staging.’
