Your Weekend: A Selective Guide

Movies: Summer’s party-end brings the dregs: “No Escape” with Owen Wilson. I suggest “Grandma” if you want something good. Television: End the season sweetly with the Vienna Phil’s summer-night concert on Friday. HBO’s “Show Me A Hero” concludes on Sunday: I found it slow going at first, but have got more engrossed as it’s unfolded — except for the overused Springsteen music. Music: My go-to album of the summer turned out to be Houndmouth’s “Little Neon Limelight,” an example of refreshed roots rock. Books: As someone who occasionally suffers from insomnia, I have to say that I am tempted to read “The Rabbit Who Wants To Fall Asleep.” Sports: Feels as if the U.S. Open should be half over by now — but it doesn’t start until Monday. Finally: I will be so so so happy when school finally starts in New York and the kids have vanished from my beloved parks and pathways.
