Television: PBS begins its Harper Lee festival with the American Masters program on Friday…I preferred PBS summer Sundays with Inspectors Lynley and Lewis not with Poldark, which I really can’t get into. Music: “Pageant Material” once again shows off the sincerity and wit of Kacey Musgraves. Books: I know it’s the summer doldrums when I find myself reading the new children’s book by Chris “Glee” Colfer…”The Boys in the Boat” is inspiring. Sports: If I could stand crowds, I’d be in lower Manhattan on Friday for the Team USA women’s soccer parade. Finally: The summer is half over. Have you bought your kids’ back-to-school clothes yet?
