Coppola Worked On Nudies!
One of the great moments in world cinema comes in 1967, when Patty Duke, as an out-of-control actress in “Valley of the Dolls,” looks at movie posters for a French film starring Sharon Tate (murdered brutally later by Charles Manson), and, not fooled by the movie’s marketing as an “art film,” screeches “Nudies!” Well, during that same decade, before becoming famous for directing the supreme first two “Godfather” movies, Francis Ford Coppola also had a hand in nudies. When he was a student at USC Film School, Coppola broke into the industry by helping to spice up soft-core porn like “Tonight for Sure” and “The Bellboy and the Playgirls.” Naughty!
