“The Qualms”: My FT Review

The Financial Times has posted my review of Bruce Norris‘s latest play. Bottom line: ‘“Here we are,” remarks a character at the outset of “The Qualms,” the rollicking new play by Bruce Norris. Nothing that follows is quite so tepid. Gary, who utters that line and who with his partner, Teri, is hosting a party for four couples, launches into a discussion of monogamy that seems a continuation of Norris’s last work, “Domesticated.” That play involved children, however, while this one, at Playwright Horizons and directed by Pam MacKinnon, is decidedly adult: Gary and Teri, at their beach-adjacent condo, are hosting a sex party.’
