How Harper Lee Signed Her Letters
Six letters that Harper Lee (pictured) wrote long ago to New York architect Harold Caufield are being auctioned on Friday at Christie’s, in New York. They are expected to fetch at least $250,000. My favorite fun fact in these missives: Miss Lee sometimes uses pseudonyms like Francesca da Rimini and the Prisoner of Zenda. And in the letters she hates being stuck in Monroeville, Alabama and longs to be back in New York.
