Your Weekend: A Selective Guide

Movies: “Avengers: Age Of Ultron” for the masses, and the new Carey Mulligan pic for those who want to go “Far From the Madding Crowd.” Television: A lot of people find “Wolf Hall” a crashing bore, but somehow I keep watching. As for HBO’s Sunday-night comedies, “Veep” may win the awards, but “Silicon Valley” is funnier. Music: I’m still enjoying Rhiannon Giddens debut, “Tomorrow Is My Turn.” And I’m listening to Joni Mitchell in thanks that she’s not in a coma. Books: Langdon Hammer, the chair of Yale’s English department, has written “James Merrill: Life and Art,” about the late great American poet. I’ve just started, but so far: fascinating! Sports: Tomorrow’s big fight: a domestic batterer versus a homophobe. Finally: “It’s May, it’s May, the lusty month of May!”
