While Amy Schumer’s sketches and set pieces were often mediocre, many of her zingers were top notch. It makes sense that her longest uninterrupted string of jokes came during her monologue, where Schumer took aim at stars and the movie industry itself. She burned Kevin Hart (“he was the fake baby in American Sniper”) and displayed some excellent wordplay (“Furious 7, which is what they’re calling the people who saw Jupiter Ascending”). Schumer seemed fearless in her monologue and set the tone for the evening in the process.
